BASEBALL

— Episcopal 10, Columbia 9: The Tigers (4-7) coughed up a seven-run lead in the final three innings, falling to the Eagles (7-3) at the Fernandina Beach Tournament. CHS led 9-2 heading the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to three RBIs from Philip Maddox and one apiece from Ayden Phillips, Grant Bowers and Brett Jones, but Episcopal scored four in the bottom half of the frame to crawl back in it. Two of those runs came off starter Bynton Edge, who exited after 4 1/3 innings where he allowed with four runs — one earned — on three hits and six walks with five strikeouts. Kyler Keen then gave up four runs — two earned — over the next inning plus before Trayce McKenzie made his pitching debut of the season and gave up the final two runs in the final inning plus, which included another unearned run, to allow the Eagles to rally for victory.

— Suwannee 7, Menendez 3: The Bulldogs (5-3-1) beat the Falcons (5-7) on the road.

SOFTBALL

— Lafayette 10, Madison County 7: Sidney Wimberley and Ella McAdams each had two RBIs while Clara Knight hit a solo home run to lead the Hornets (7-8) past the Cowgirls (6-5) in nine innings on the road. Miley McCray and Khloe Crotts also each had an RBI for LHS, which saw MCHS score a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extras before the teams then exchanged two runs apiece in the eighth only for LHS to score three in the ninth. Knight pitched six innings for LHS, surrendering five runs — two earned — on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts before Crotts took over and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts in the final three innings.
