BASEBALL

— Suwannee 15, Union County 8: It took 11 innings but the Bulldogs (4-1-1) were finally able to pull away from the Tigers (3-6) for a road win in extras thanks to seven runs in the 11th. It was a back-and-forth contest all night, which saw SHS take the a one-run lead with two runs in the top of the seventh only for UCHS to tie it with one in the bottom of the frame before the teams exchanged a run apiece in the eighth and the ninth. Grayson Bonds went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and SHS also got three RBIs from Logan Brooks, while Koy Frier and Noah Lopez each added two RBIs, and PJ Davis, Jace Moran and Hunter Watson each added one. Only one run of Union’s runs on the night was earned, with Grayson Greene pitching a spotless final two innings for the win where he allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out two.

Lafayette 10, Branford 7: Tucker Floyd went 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Chason Blocker, Troy Roberts, Austin Humphries, Kyler Williamson and Dawson Cannon all had an RBI, but it wasn’t enough for the Buccaneers (3-5) to take down the Hornets (7-1) on the road. Floyd pitched four innings in the loss and allowed eight runs, though only one was earned on eight hits and two walks while striking out three.
