Wardle nets hat trick in win for Lady Bucs

    Gage Logan broke a 1-1 tie in the second half, scoring off an assist from Peyton Palmer to lift Columbia’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Middleburg in District 3-5A action Friday night at CYSA.

    Logan also assisted Colyn Weatherspoon’s goal in the first half. CHS goalkeeper Logan Wheeldon made four saves to help the Tigers (3-0) hold off the Broncos (1-1).

    BOYS SOCCER

    — Wakulla 7, Suwannee 0: The War Eagles (3-0) scored four goals in the first half before cruising to a shutout over the Bulldogs (0-3) at Paul Langford Stadium on Friday.

    GIRLS SOCCER

    — Columbia 1, Orange Park 0: Leah Shields scored a goal off an assist from Paola Ortiz and the Tigers (1-1) held on to defeat the Raiders (0-1) on the road Friday night in District 3-5A action. CHS goalkeeper Sadie Sparks made nine saves to preserve the shutout.

    — Branford 4, Saint Francis Catholic 1: Kayleigh Wardle recorded a hat trick and Delilah Poore added another goal to lead the Buccaneers (1-1) over the Wolves (0-2) at home Friday.
