PREP ROUNDUP: Columbia's soccer teams drop home matches

Columbia’s soccer teams both came up empty at home Wednesday night.

The CHS boys dropped their third straight match, falling to Buchholz 5-1 at Tiger Stadium while plagued by a few injuries. Goalkeeper Logan Wheeldon made five saves before leaving in the second half after a collision, while Brandon Schwartz left in the second half with another injury. Braxton Dicks and Neftali Lopez also missed Wednesday’s match against the Bobcats (9-0-1).

Masina Sapp replaced Wheeldon and made four saves. Trace Williams scored the lone goal for the Tigers (6-4-2).

The CHS girls lost to Lincoln 2-1 at CYSA. Leah Shields scored a goal off an assist from Marlee Hunt in a match that was tied 1-1 until the Trojans (3-6-2) took the lead on a penalty kick late in the second half. Goalkeeper Sadie Sparks made 17 saves for the Lady Tigers (5-4-1).

WRESTLING

Host Columbia went 2-2 at the District 2-2A duals on Wednesday.

The Tigers beat Leon 54-21, lost to champion Middleburg 68-12, beat Ridgeview 53-24 and lost to Chiles 54-30.
