UNEARNED RUNS COST CHS SOFTBALL
West Nassau benefitted from three unearned runs to top Columbia 3-2 in Callahan on Friday night.
The Warriors held on after the Tigers scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Harleigh Price before bringing the go-ahead run to the plate. But with runners on the corners, Anna Dansby popped up in the infield to end the game.
West Nassau scored runs in the second and fourth innings before Sakiya Merriex had an RBI in the sixth to get Columbia on the scoreboard. But the Warriors answered back with a big insurance run in the bottom half of the inning when an error eventually led to a bases-loaded walk with two outs from Price, who only allowed two hits while walking three and striking out 11 in a complete-game effort.
