PREP ROUNDUP: Columbia boys beat Fort White for 13th straight win in hoops; CHS wrestling places sixth at Braves Invitational

Charleston Ponds scored 16 points and Kenney Gaines had 15 to lead Columbia to a 94-55 win over Fort White on Senior Night.

D'Andre Jefferson also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Darrien Jones finished with 14 points. It was the 13th straight win for the Tigers, who head into next Friday's District 2-6A semifinal as the No. 2 seed with a 23-2 record.

Columbia will face the winner of No. 3 seed Chiles and No. 6 Buchholz, while top-seeded Lincoln gets the winner of No. 4 seed Gainesville and No. 5 seed Leon.

Fort White (7-13) is the No.4 seed in District 6-1A and will face No. 5 seed Union County in the quarterfinals Monday at home at 7:30 p.m. No. 3 seed Trenton plays No. 6 seed Branford.

Hilliard is the No. 1 seed and Bell is the No. 2 seed.

WRESTLING

Columbia placed sixth at the Braves Invitational at Lake Gibson High School on Saturday, led by second-place finishes from Ian McGuigan (132 class) and Joseph Rice (170).

Other placers for the Tigers were Obie Smith in fourth (152), Alex McGuigan fifth (138), Jaycob Jones fifth (285) and Brett Millard sixth (106).
