PREP ROUNDUP: CHS boys beat Orange Park in OT; CHS girls place 3rd at B-Town Classic

Jordan Smith scored 18 points, including two 3-pointers, and Darrien Jones added 17 to help Columbia survive in overtime for a 62-60 road win over Orange Park on Saturday in the Bracket Buster Shootout.

Marcus Owens also had a key block in the closing seconds to help clinch the win for the Tigers (11-2). Tray Tolliver also had five points, Charleston Ponds had four points, Kenney Gaines had three points and D'Andre Jefferson and Marcus Peterson had two points apiece against the Raiders (9-3)

Next up for Columbia is a District 2-6A matchup with Gainesville at home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Columbia defeated River Ridge from New Port Richey 39-33 in the third-place game of the B-Town Classic in South Carolina on Saturday.

Na'Haviya Paxton and Anzarria Jerkins both had double-doubles for the Lady Tigers (13-3), with Paxton scoring 12 points with 10 steals while Jerkins had 10 points and 10 steals. Paxton also added eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks and was name to the all-tournament team.

Bree Dixon also scored seven points with eight rebounds, two assists and four steals against the Royal Knights (10-6). Taylor Ivery and Camille Perry added four points each while Jackie Queen finished with two points.

Next up for Columbia is a home game against Hawthorne on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
