PREP ROUNDUP: Branford blows past Suwannee behind Frierson's big night

LIVE OAK — Ellie Frierson went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs while Madyson Sikes also hit a two-run homer to help Branford roll past Suwannee 12-2 on the road Friday night.

The Buccaneers (9-4) never triggered a run-rule but they scored 11 runs over the final four innings, including three in the seventh to build a 12-0 lead. Payten Bates and Dani Whitfield added an RBI apiece, with Whitfield also scoring three runs.

Mallory Blue and Alex Whitfield both went 2 for 4 and scored a run each as BHS churned out 12 hits against the Bulldogs (5-6). Blue also pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out four.

— Suwannee 14, Florida High 2: Gabe Garcia and Grayson Bonds each recorded three RBIs to lead the Class 3A No. 8 Bulldogs (9-6) past the Seminoles (3-14) on the road Friday night. Colton Rogers, Kyler Watson, Jace Moran, Koy Frier and Hampton Newman added an RBI apiece for SHS, which jumped out to an 8-1 lead after three innings before scoring six more in the sixth and seventh. Rogers pitched four innings for the win, allowing an unearned run on two hits and two walks while striking out four.

— Lafayette 15, Dixie County 12: The Class Rural No. 3 Hornets (11-2) overcame an 8-4 deficit with an eight-run third inning before holding on to beat the Bears (2-11) on the road Friday night. Brayden Richardon drove in four runs, Tywan Williamson brought home three and Noah Lamb had two RBIs for LHS, which also got an RBI apiece from Garrett Taylor, Jordan Murphy, Hyatt Richardson and Kagan Hewett. Lamb was charged with eight runs — six earned — on three hits and four walks in just 1 1/3 innings of work before the Hornets turned to Ethan Tuten, who picked up the win in 2 2/3 scoreless innings where he struck out eight and didn’t allow a hit or walk.
