Columbia linebacker Le'vontae Camiel shut down his recruitment on Saturday, officially announcing that he will be signing with South Florida on National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

Camiel, a 3-star prospect, has been committed to USF since June but has kept his recruitment open. But despite the firing of head coach Charlie Strong last month, Camiel is confident in the program going forward under new coach Jeff Scott.

He joins CHS quarterback Jordan Smith, who is also committed to the Bulls.

"Starting off I would like to give God all of the glory for blessing me with these many talents," Camiel said  on Twitter. "I would like to thank South Florida for giving me a chance to showcase my talents on the next level while getting a degree. With that being said I will be shutting down my recruitment and signing with the University of South Florida on National Signing Day!! Go Bulls."

Camiel picked USF over several other offers, including South Alabama, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Coast Carolina, Colorado State, FIU, FAU, Kent State, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Rutgers, Southern Miss, Southern, Troy and Western Kentucky.

In his senior season at CHS, Camiel led the team with 11 tackles for loss and was second on the team with six sacks. He was also third on the team with 73 tackles.
