PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Suwannee boys win Suwannee County Invitational

Four top-10 finishes, led by Morgan Mobley in third place, propelled the Suwannee boys to victory at the Suwannee County Invitational on Saturday.

Mobley ran a time of 17:11.29 ahead of teammates Paul Gunter in fifth (17:29.04), Issac Starling in seventh (17:31.44) and Brig Scott in ninth (17:32.57). The Bulldogs finished with 54 points to edge Florida High, which tallied 78.

Colton Rogers (19:38.98), Elijah Littleton (19:44.17) and Terrance Clark (19:47.55) placed 30th, 31st and 32nd, respectively, to round out the scoring for Suwannee.

The only other male area runner to finish in the top 10 was Joshua Thompson in eighth (17:32.40) for Columbia, which placed third with 84 points. Also scoring for the Tigers were Nolan Martin in 13th (18:14.81), Nathan Matsubara in 16th (18:24.50), Brandyn Pope in 20th (18:39.83), Jacob McBride in 27th (19:30.76), Timothy Todd in 35th (19:53.43) and Dylan Aspenwell in 36th (19:53.56).

Branford’s boys placed ninth out of nine teams with 248 points. Nathaniel Rojas was the only Bucs runner to finish in the top 50, placing 37th (20:05.72).

In the girls race, Branford’s Anna Moore was the top area runner with a second-place finish in a time of 19:51.30 to help Branford finish fourth with 102 points behind Wakulla (32), Florida High (49) and Suwannee (82). Suwannee was led by Ryleigh Hermanson, who placed sixth (20:46.69) to lead seven runners who scored in the top 30.

Hermanson was ahead of teammates Montana Lewis in 15th (22:29.94), Brianna Woods in 17th (22:34.59), Sadie Siemon in 20th (22:57.99), Maddie McMillan in 24th (23:18.96), Arwen Haley (23:31.10) and Lydia Gunter in 27th (23:33.540. Behind Moore for Branford were Kayleigh Wardle in 12th (21:49.62), Kelbie Snider in 22nd (23:01.03), Ella Harris in 31st (23:54.13), Delilah Poore (24:34.02), Callie Harris in 46th (26:00.31), and Kalyn Osgood in 53rd (27:00.29).

Columbia’s girls tallied 146 points to place fifth, led by Abigail Candler in 18th (22:34.91). Mallory Golden wasn’t far behind in 21st (23:00.99) ahead of teammates Morgan Golden in 33rd (24:05.18), Kendall Todd in 38th (24:39.54), Laelle Thompson in 39th (24:48.06), Kiara Thompson in 49th (26:40.87), and Yulin Chen in 50th (26:44.70).
