Branford weightlifter Morgan Brennan was voted by the readers as the LCR Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20-25.
Brennan received 152 of the 174 votes cast through 4 p.m. Wednesday in our online poll following a week where she swept the individual District 7-1A titles in the 139 class with a total of 265 pounds in Olympic and a total of 275 pounds in traditional. She finished ahead of Columbia boys basketball player Shaheed White (10), Suwannee weightlifter Melanee Jones (6), Fort White basketball player Zuri Hollie (5) and Fort White basketball player Tafari Moe (1).
The next poll will be online this weekend. Nominees will be chosen from scores and stats uploaded to MaxPreps, sent in by coaches and from games attended by the LCR's reporters. Coaches can also send in nominees to jkroeger@lakecityreporter.com.
