MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Phillips leads FGC’s rout of Thomas JV

Amayoa’ah Phillips was near perfect from the field, making 11 of 13 shots for 24 points to lead Florida Gateway College to an easy 101-69 win over Thomas University’s JV squad on the road Friday night.

Antewan Webber added 13 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Jazan Johnson came off the bench to score 14 points as the Timberwolves won their third straight. Amon Moore and Tariq Pitts also had eight points each for FGC, which led 56-37 at halftime.

The Timberwolves shot 55% from the field and hit 5 of 11 3-pointers, with Webber hitting 2 of his 5 from behind the arc. Columbia High alums Nate Mobley (6), Isaac Broxey (4) and Ty’jahn Wright combined to score 13 points off the bench.

Next up for FGC is a home matchup with Albany Technical College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
