MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Five players score in double figures to lead FGC past Coastal Alabama-North

All five starters scored in double figures, including 19 points from Amayoa'ah Phillips, as Florida Gateway College topped Coastal Alabama-North 91-85 at home Saturday afternoon.

Columbia High alum Ty’jahn Wright added 18 points with five rebounds, while Antewan Webber (14 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, four steals) and Oakley Lewis (16 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles. Axel Holmquist also finished with 15 points for the Timberwolves (5-3), who led 46-35 at halftime.

FGC won despite shooting 2 of 12 from beyond the arc and 44% from the field, while the Coyotes went 9 of 27 from 3. But the T-wolves defense held Coastal Alabama-North to 41% shooting for the game.

Rontavious Blackshear scored 21 points to lead Coastal Alabama-North, which also got 15 points from Joshua Whitehurst in the starting lineup. Ozell Purifoy also finished in double figures with 18 points off the bench.

Next up for FGC is a matchup against Johnson University at home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
