Jazan Johnson came off the bench to score 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and Oakley Lewis added 16 points on a perfect 7-of-7 day to help Florida Gateway College rally for an 84-67 win over Oak Leaf Prep at home Saturday afternoon.
Antewan Webber and Amayoa’ah Phillips both added 15 points to help the Timberwolves fight back from a nine-point deficit. FGC (10-6) trailed by nine at multiple points in the second half, including 60-51 with 12:56 left, but then rattled off a 20-5 run.
Johnson tied the game at 65 with 6:59 to go and he finally gave the Timberwolves the lead with another bucket before Lewis and Phillips followed with a pair of layups for a 71-65 advantage. Dylan Dominique answered with a basket to pull Oak Leaf Prep back within four, but FGC ended the game on a 13-0 run to pull away.
Connor Horne led Oak Leaf Prep with 20 points, while Dominque had 14, Donald James had 11 and Carson Horne had 10.
FGC opens Sun-Lakes Conference play on Wednesday when Palm Beach State visits Lake City.
