MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: FGC bounces back to top South Georgia State College

Antewan Webber helped Florida Gateway College bounce back on Saturday, scoring 19 points to lead his squad to a 76-70 win over South Georgia State College at the Howard Center.

Webber made two 3-pointers and shot 9 of 10 from the free throw line for the Timberwolves (8-5), who shot 53.5% from the field while making 27 of 30 foul shots. Amayoa’ah Phillips and Axel Holmquist both added 15 points, while Oakley Lewis came off the bench to finish with 10 points. Webber and Holmquist both grabbed six rebounds for FGC, which lost its previous two games on buzzer beaters.

Kyric Davis led Hawks (6-4) with 23 points, while Joseph Bell scored 16 points and Yannis Woods added 13. SGSC shot just 41% and had 19 turnovers in an impressive defensive effort by FGC, which led 38-31 at halftime.  

The T-wolves have two games this upcoming week before winter break, both of which are on the road. They travel to Enterprise State CC on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off before wrapping up the first half of the season at Johnson University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
