Jahlaya Wilson poured in 30 points — 21 in the first half — to lead top-seeded Fort White to a 69-38 blowout win over No. 4 seed Trenton in the District 6-R semifinals at home Wednesday night.
Zuri Hollie scored 19 points, nine of which came in the first quarter as the Indians (15-9) jumped out to a 21-5 advantage. The junior guard was honored during the game for hitting the 1,000-point mark in her career that began at Columbia.
FWHS increased its lead to 44-18 by halftime and then 58-27 heading to the fourth. The win sets up a date with the winner of Dixie County-Taylor County in the district championship on Friday back at Fort White.
Kayley Sloan led the Tigers (8-16) with 16 points.
DISTRICT 5-R
Thanks to 22 points from Havyn Richardson, No. 3 seed Lafayette beat No. 2 seed Madison County 51-42 in overtime in the District 5-R semifinals at Hilliard on Wednesday.
Alanna Sterner also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Sophia Kendrick had a team-high 11 rebounds to go with five points for LHS, which also got six points, seven rebounds and five assists from Jada Copeland.
The Hornets advance to face top-seeded Hilliard, which blew out 4-seed Branford 64-18, in the district championship on Friday at HHS.
