BOYS GOLF: Galbraith ties for second at districts to lead Lafayette to regionals

Trey Galbraith shot a 76 to tie for second with Madison County’s Jarrod Sullivan at the District 3-1A tournament on Monday at Quail Heights.

The two golfers finished four strokes behind champion Kenneth Guy from Keystone Heights, who tallied a 72. Galbraith’s solid round led Lafayette to a third-place team finish to help the entire team qualify for regionals. The Hornets finished with a 365 total behind Madison County (356), while Keystone Heights ran away with the title with a 320.

Harrison Jackson was next for Lafayette with an 85 to tie for sixth, while Durand Driver shot a 98 to tie for 16th and Harris Johnson carded a 106 to finish 27th.

Branford finished fifth with a 391 total, led by Gavin Barnes’ 85. His 85 tied for sixth, which was good enough for an individual regional berth.

Barnes was the only Buccaneer to advance to the region tournament. Other scorers for Branford at districts were Troy Tyler with a 99, Wyatt Winnett with a 103 and Austin Humphries with a 104.
