One killed, two seriously injured in Mayo crash

MAYO - A crash on U.S. Highway 27 northwest of Mayo late Friday night left one man dead and two women seriously injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV was approaching U.S. 27 from a private driveway to the east around 10 p.m. when it pulled out onto the highway in front of a northbound pickup causing the crash.

The FHP report states the front end of the pickup ran into the driver's side of the SUV, with the drive of the SUV, a 51-year-old Mayo man being killed.

A passenger in the SUV, a 47-year-old Mayo man was critically injured in the accident, according to FHP.

The driver of the pickup, an 18-year-old Mayo man, and a 16-year-old Branford girl riding in the pickup suffered minor injuries. Another passenger in the pickup, a 38-year-old Mayo woman was seriously injured.
