FORT WHITE — A Lake City woman was killed Thursday morning when she pulled out in front of a semi truck on State Road 47.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old Lake City woman was headed east on County Road 238 (Elim Church Road) at 6:05 a.m. Thursday when it approached the intersection with SR 47 in southern Columbia County.
The FHP release states the woman’s sedan entered the intersection from the stop sign in front of a southbound semi truck, causing the truck ram into the left side of the car.
Both vehicles flipped over after the impact, according to FHP.
The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed in the crash.
The semi driver, a 33-year-old Lake City man, was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
