FHP searching for fleeing driver from fatal accident

Bicyclist hit late Friday night in Suwannee County.

LIVE OAK — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver who hit and killed a bicyclist in central Suwannee County on Friday night.

According to an FHP release, a Live Oak man was riding southbound on County Road 349 just south of State Road 51 — southwest of Live Oak — around 11:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit from behind.

The bicyclist was killed, according to FHP, which has not release an identity or age of the victim, who was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident.

According to FHP, the vehicle may have damage to its right front area.

People who live on CR 349 in the area who may help video of passing vehicles is also asked to contact authorities.
