Facilities manager killed in electrical accident

BRANFORD — A maintenance worker was killed in an accident Tuesday afternoon at the Branford McDonald’s.

Suwannee County Sheriff Sam St. John said the 42-year-old man from Jacksonville was working on the restaurant’s air conditioning unit on top of the building around 3 p.m. Tuesday when he touched some of the electric lines and was electrocuted.

“He had it all apart and had his tools out and all,” St. John said. “I’m not sure what he touched or how he touched it. But it was some pretty powerful lines in there and it killed him.”

The man was not identified, pending next of kin notification.

St. John said the man was the facilities manager for multiple McDonald’s franchises in the North Florida area.
