Disaster Recovery Centers in Columbia and Hamilton counties have a new schedule.
Starting this week, the Disaster Recovery Center at the old Lake City Reporter building, 180 E. Duval Street in Lake City, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The center will be closed on Sundays.
The Hamilton County site, located at the Courthouse Annex, 1153 NW U.S. Hwy. 41 in Jasper, is also now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It, too, will be closed Sundays.
The Disaster Recovery Centers provide disaster survivors with information from Florida state agencies, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration following the impact from Hurricane Idalia. Residents can get help applying for federal assistance and disaster loans, update applications and learn about other resources available.
There are also Disaster Recovery Centers located in Suwannee County at the Suwannee County Coliseum Exhibition 2, 1302 SW 11th Street in Live Oak, and in Lafayette County at the Mayo Community Center, 150 NW Community Circle in Mayo. The Mayo site is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day and the Suwannee location is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
On Thursday, a Farmer Recovery Center will be open at the UF/IFAS Suwannee County Extension Office, 1302 SW 11th Street in Live Oak, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
That center will provide information about assistance for agricultural interests following Idalia.
Residents do not have to go to a center in their county. They may visit any open center.
It also is not necessary to visit a center. Those impacted can apply by calling 800-621-3362, going online at disasterassistance.gov, or using the FEMA mobile app. The line is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
