Cyclist hit, killed on U.S. 90

LIVE OAK — A cyclist was killed early Thursday morning after turning in front of a pickup on the west side of Live Oak.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 46-year-old Live Oak man was riding his bicycle west on the side of U.S. Highway 90 when he made a sudden left turn into the path of pickup on the highway around 2:33 a.m. Thursday.

The FHP release said the pickup, which was also westbound on U.S. 90, struck the cyclist near the intersection with Woods Avenue.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to HCA Florida Suwannee ER. He died at the emergency room.

The driver of the pickup, a 58-year-old Live Oak man, was not injured.
