A Lake City teenager was arrested after shots were fired near downtown Lake City on Monday morning.

Kendrick Hill Jr., 18, was found hiding in a house he shared with his girlfriend, the victim and intended target of the shooting, according to a Lake City Police Department release. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Hill was charged with attempted murder, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a delinquent and aggravated assault. The release states Hill kicked two officers while being taken into custody.

LCPD responded to the corner of SE Church Avenue and SE Nassau Street, near the Advance Auto Parts store, at 11:38 a.m. to the report of gunfire. It’s the fourth reported gunfire incident in the city in four days.

While officers were en route, a 911 caller said they saw a black male wearing all black running south on SE Church Avenue. The LCPD release states Hill pointed a firearm at the caller as he approached them.

LCPD officers and deputies from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter in the area and began searching, leading to his arrest back where the incident occurred.

Shell casings found at the scene were collected as evidence.
