Suwannee County had 87 confirmed covid-19 cases as of Friday evening, while Columbia County was up to 35, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Five deaths and 23 instances of hospitalization were reported for Suwannee County. In Columbia County, there were no deaths and four cases involving hospitalization.
Seventy-five of the Suwannee County cases and all five deaths were related to patients or staff at a long-term care facility, according to DOH data. Five of the Columbia County cases were related to patients or staff at a long-term care facility — that figure was previously reported as six but health officials later revised it.
Between the two counties, cases have been reported involving children as young as 1 and adults as old as 93.
Statewide, Florida was at 24,753 cases and 726 deaths. Nationally, there were 697,566 confirmed cases and 36,501 deaths as of 6 p.m. Friday.
