A Lake City man turned himself in Saturday after fleeing the scene of a shooting Friday.

According to a Lake City Police Department release, officers responded Friday at 5:40 p.m. to the Stop N Go at 801 NW Lake Jeffrey Road to the report of gunfire.

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted by an officer driving east on NE Martin Luther King Jr. Street, which continued to flee south on NE Coldwater Avenue, the release states.

Officers observed the passenger toss a firearm from the vehicle, which then stopped on NE Coldwater Avenue at the railroad tracks as both the driver and passenger fled on foot.

Despite a perimeter being established and the assistance of the Florida Department of Corrections’ K9 team, officers were unable to locate either suspect.

The firearm, which was thrown from the vehicle, was found and collected.

On Saturday, 28-year-old Ike Henderson turned himself into officers and was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center for attempted murder, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and tampering with evidence.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle and treated for their injuries, the release states.
