An overnight shooting left one dead in southern Lake City and sent another man to jail.
According to the Lake City Police Department, officers responded to SW Happiness Lane around 12:15 a.m. Sunday where they found a 20-year-old black male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Despite life-saving measures by officers and EMTs, the man died at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.
Officers determined during the investigation that Darrius Romeo Tucker, a 20-year-old, shot the victim.
LCPD's release states no motive for the shooting has been determined and Tucker refused to answer questions.
Tucker, who has been charged with first degree murder, was transported to the Columbia County Detention Center without further incident.
