A late night visitor to the Circle K convenience store was looking for more than a refreshment, according to authorities.
A Lake City Police Department release states when a tall, heavy set black male approached the counter with a fountain drink at the convenience store at the intersection of West Duval Street and SW Baya Drive around 1:48 a.m. Friday, he demanded money instead of making the purchase.
The LCPD release states that the man had a hand inside the pocket of his camouflage jacket making the clerk suspect he was armed.
The clerk complied with the suspect’s demand for money from the register.
The man then exited the building and headed northeast from the store.
According to LCPD, nobody was injured during the robbery.
The release states that man, who was also wearing camouflage pants and had a red mask covering the lower part of his face, went to the soda fountain and selected a drink as soon as he entered the store. He then approached the pastry items and questioned the clerk about the freshness of the doughnuts before he approached the counter.
