A Hamilton County shooting suspect was apprehended Wednesday in Lake City.
William Michael Walker, a 21-year-old Jasper man, was located and arrested by members of the Lake City Police Department’s Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions Wednesday following an investigation into his whereabouts.
Walker was arrested on a Hamilton County warrant for aggravated battery, firing missiles into a dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Hamilton County Sheriff Harrell Reid said Walker was wanted from a March 16 daytime shooting on NW 38th Terrace in Jasper. Officers responded to the scene at 12:17 p.m. on March 16 where they found a victim with gunshot wounds to the leg and shoulder.
Reid said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
“My investigator is still trying to work on it, trying to dig up more stuff,” he said, adding authorities still aren’t sure what led to the shooting. “The victim’s not cooperating with us. We do have some independent witnesses who are and possibly saw the incident.”
Walker, who was also wanted on a Columbia County warrant for possession of cocaine and probation violation, was transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility.
