WELLBORN — An Alabama man was killed Monday afternoon when his lumber truck overturned along Interstate 10.
The semi, which was pulling a trailer loaded with lumber according to a Florida Highway Patrol release, was headed eastbound in the outside lane on I-10 when it traveled onto the grass shoulder around 2:45 p.m. Monday just inside the Columbia County line east of Wellborn. FHP is still investigating the reasons behind the truck, which was driven by a 47-year-old Daleville, Alabama, man, traveled off the roadway.
Once the truck got onto the shoulder, the FHP report states it hit a dirt embankment causing it to lose its load before the truck stopped on the shoulder facing east.
