The covid-19 death toll in Columbia County has seen no change in change since late April, according to the latest data from the Florida Department of Health as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbia County had 105 confirmed covid-19 cases and two deaths. Meanwhile, Suwannee County, which is dealing with an outbreak at a nursing home, was at 148 confirmed cases and 18 deaths.

Of the Columbia County cases, 104 involved local residents and nine resulted in hospitalization. The cases involved people ranging from younger than 1 to as old as 80.

Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center is the epicenter of the outbreak there.

All of the 148 cases in Suwannee County involved local residents and 35 resulted in hospitalization, according to the FDOH data. The patients range from 5 to 102 years old.

The most recent long-term care data available the FDOH website showed that all 18 confirmed deaths in the county were residents at Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center. The website previously showed that one staff member at Suwannee Health had died, but that number has since been changed to zero.

At least 83 covid-19 cases in Suwannee County are connected to the nursing home, the May 1 data shows.

Sixty-four current or former residents and 19 employees at the facility have tested positive, according to statistics.
