COLUMBIA CITY – A search of a dumpster at a southern Columbia County convenience store Wednesday turned up...trash.
Responding to reports of a bloody sheet in the dumpster outside the SunStop store near the intersection of State Road 47 and County Road 240, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office's Crime Scene Unit searched through the dumpster.
But there wasn't anything more found, according to Sgt. Steven Khachigan, a public information officer for the sheriff's office.
What investigators did discover was that a man in the area had busted his head open and discarded of the bloody sheet when he went to the convenience store for additional bandages.
“He's OK,” Khachigan said. “When someone said there were bloody sheets, we sent crime scene out just to make sure there wasn't anything more to it.”
