2 more covid deaths in Live Oak, bringing total to 5

Two more in Suwannee County are dead from covid-19, bringing the total death count up to five.

A 79-year-old man and 80-year-old woman became the fourth and fifth people to die there due to the virus, the Florida Department of Health in Suwannee County announced Thursday. Both were connected to an existing case, but it’s not clear whether they are linked to a cluster of 71 infections reported at Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center, the epicenter of the outbreak in the Live Oak area.

Suwannee County had 81 confirmed cases of the virus as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the DOH covid-19 dashboard. Columbia County was at 34 cases, six either residents or staff at an unidentified long-term health care facility here.
