BASEBALL

— Bartram Trail 6, Columbia 5: Despite a home run and three RBIs from Ayden Phillips on a 2-for-3 night and an RBI apiece from JD Dumas and Phillips Maddox, the Tigers (1-1) fell to the Bears (2-0) in eight innings on the road. Bynton Edge received a no-decision in the start despite striking out six batters and allowing one earned run as four more were unearned on two hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. Mason Hague surrendered the winning run in the eighth, which was earned after he allowed hits to all four batters he faced.

— Fort White 14, Saint Francis Catholic 6: The Indians (2-0) put up 11 runs in the fifth inning to rally past the Wolves (1-1) at home. Carson Capallia, Garrett Depaola and Caden Hall all had three RBIs, while Patrick Kennedy had two and Tucker Flynn had one. Flynn picked up the win in 2 1/3 innings on the mound after allowing four runs — three earned — on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

— Lafayette 4, Trenton 3: JT Cook and Tywan Williamson each had an RBI and the Hornets (2-0) rallied with two runs in the seventh inning for a walk-off win over the Tigers (0-2) at home. Garrett Taylor allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts in four innings, while Noah Lamb gave up two runs — one earned — on a pair of hits and a pair of walks with a strikeout.

SOFTBALL

— Fort White 17, Chiefland 0: Behind five RBIs from Gracie Clemons, the Indians (10) run-ruled CHS (0-2) in three innings on the road in their season opener. Kadence Compton added two RBIs while Hannah Lebleu and Morgan Kelly each drove in one run. Compton pitched all three innings in the victory, allowing one hit and striking out six.

— Santa Fe 10, Suwannee 0: Gracie Watley allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out six as the Bulldogs (0-2) suffered a run-rule loss to the Raiders (1-1) in six innings at home. SFHS held the SHS lineup to four hits.

— Lafayette 19, Hamilton County 2: Clara Knight homered and had four RBIs while Emma Revels also went yard with three RBIs to lead the Hornets (2-0) to a run-rule win over the Trojans (0-2) in six innings on the road. Brooke Lamb, Kambry Moseley, Ella McAdams and Miley McCray each had two RBIs, while Karen Gonzalez, Bella Vann and Khloe Crotts drove in one run each. Clara Knight (two hits, one walk, two strikeouts, one unearned run) and Knight (on hit, two walks, two strikeouts) each pitched three innings while Revels allowed an earned run on two hits and two walks in zero innings.

FLAG FOOTBALL

— Suwannee 18, Rickards 6: Alaira Handy caught four passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns while Tor'Landria Ross also had a 25-yard touchdown reception to lead the Bulldogs (1-0) over the Raiders (0-1) on the road in their season opener. Jessica Tran completed 4-of-6 passes for 61 yards while Cherish Sutton was 2 of 6 for 45 yards and score with two interceptions.

— Columbia 7, Baker County 0: The Tigers (1-0) edged the Wildcats (0-1) at home in their season opener.

TRACK & FIELD

— Santa Fe Mini Meet 1: J'Liyn Smith had the best individual girls performance in Columbia's season opener by winning the 400m (1:00.80), with Omari Foster close in second (1:02.70). Alli Jenkins finished second in the girls long jump at 4.68m, while Kyndall Norris finished second overall in both the shot put (8.85m) and javelin (30.32m). For the boys, Trevis Johnson won the 400m (50.94) and finished seventh in the 200m (23.50). Nathan Matsubara finished second in the 800m (2:07.10) while Joshua Thompson finished fifth (2:11.4) to go with a seventh-place finish in the 1600m (4:53.98). Kaden McKire was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 6.06m, Jeffrey Deal finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 8.12m. Omarion Udell finished in fifth in the javelin with a toss of 27.92m and Jeffrey Deal was seventh with a throw of 35.23m.
