Columbia’s wrestling team placed fourth at the Tiger Duals on Saturday, with Clay taking home the title.

Undefeated individuals for the Tigers included Jayden Thomas in the 138 class and Alex Ulloa in the 145 class. Head coach Pete Whittington also picked up his 100th dual win.

In the girls round robin, Carlee Morrison pinned her way through to first place in the 145 class.

SUWANNEE TAKES FIRST

Suwannee’s wrestling team won first place of 17 teams at the Yulee Duals this weekend.

— Round 1: Suwannee 67, Mandarin 9

— Round 2: Suwannee 55, Heritage 18

— Round 3: Suwannee 75, Bolles/University Christian 0

— Round 4: Suwannee 66, Ed White 18

— Round 5: Suwannee 43, South Effington 27

BOYS BASKETBALL

— Newberry 70, Fort White 61: Despite 29 points from Brandon DeMartino, the Indians (4-2) fell to the Panthers (7-1) at home Friday night. FWHS also got 10 points apiece from Tafari Moe and Najeeb Smith, and six points each from Kamarion Griffin and Garrett Brady.

— Branford 73, Cedar Key 45: The Buccaneers (6-3) bounced back to beat the Sharks (2-6) on the road Friday night.

— Madison County 53, Suwannee 31: The Bulldogs (1-7) fell to the Cowboys (3-2) on the road Friday night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

— Columbia 63, Hamilton County 31: The Tigers (6-7) snapped a four-game losing streak with a blowout win the Trojans (1-6) on the road Saturday night.

— Lafayette 53, Bell 19: Ella Hancock scored 18 points and had six steals to lead the Hornets (4-6) past the Bulldogs (3-10) on the road Friday night. Kelby Lyons added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Kiley Beach finished with 14 points in the win.

— Madison County 50, Suwannee 29: The Bulldogs (5-3) fell to the Cowgirls (6-6) on the road Friday night.

BOYS SOCCER

— Suwannee 5, Lafayette 0: Robert Robinson, Josh Jahuey, Joel De La Cruz, Denzel Yaxon and Dawson Gamble each scored a goal to lead the Bulldogs (3-5-1) to a shutout over the Hornets (7-2) on Friday night in Mayo. Goalkeepers Alex Mabey, AJ Hitt, Alex Berstain and Kendal Vasquez-Hernandez combined to make nine saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

— Forest 6, Columbia 2: Despite two goals from Skyler Ziegaus, one on an assist from Sydney Rivas, the Tigers (6-3) fell to the Wildcats (9-1) on the road Friday night. FHS broke a 2-2 tie at halftime with four goals in the second half as CHS played without two of its starting fullbacks. CHS goalkeeper Haley Schrader finishes with 18 saves.

— Suwannee 3, Lafayette 2: The Bulldogs (2-3-1) edged the Hornets (8-2) on Friday night in Mayo. Ella McAdams and Mia Negrete each scored a goal for LHS.
