PREP ROUNDUP: Saturday's results for district track, state weightlifting and baseball

Columbia is sending 10 athletes off to regionals after their performances at the District 3-3A meet on Saturday at Raines High School.

Stacy White led the way for the girls with a title in the triple jump with a leap of 9.91m while also placing third in the 100m with a time of 13.22 seconds to advance on in two events. Seth Stockton also won a district title in the triple jump with a leap of 14.35m for the boys. 

Also moving on for the girls is Abigail Candler, who had a close finish in the 800 and placed second with a time of 2:30.10. Kyndall Norris finished second as well in the javelin with a throw of 23.29m to set a new CHS record, while Audrey Fender placed third in the 1600 with a time of 5:48.18. 

Joining Stockton for the boys is the 4x800 relay team of Nathan Matsubara, Rhett Feagle, Gavin Satterfield and Jose Rodriguez after the quartet finished second with a time of 8:54.27. Rodriguez also placed third in the 1600 with a time 4:57.67, while Evan Morse finished fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 33.48m to squeak into the regional meet.

The boys placed fifth with 64 points behind champion Raines. The girls were sixth with 47 points behind champion Riverside.

The Region 1-3A meet is May 6 at Fort Walton Beach High School.

BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING

Branford’s Seth Humphries placed 15th in the 154 class at the Class 1A state meet on Saturday, posting a 440 total. Brandon Guiffreda placed 17th in the 129 class in the traditional for BHS with a 340 total.

In the snatch, Guiffreda placed 15th (110). Fort White’s Tanner placed 10th (120) in the snatch.

BASEBALL

— Suwannee 14, Clay 2: The Class 4A No. 4 Bulldogs (17-4) kept rolling on Saturday, topping the Blue Devils (13-9) on the road in seven innings for their eighth straight win. Josh Fernald went 2 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs, while FSU commit Camdon Frier had four RBIs with two doubles on a 3-for-5 day. Matthew Gill, Carston Palmer and Easton Kirby each had two RBIs, with Palmer scoring three runs. Peyton Waters drove in another run, while Coby Campbell went 3 for 4 and scored three runs. Gill went six innings on the mound for the win, allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
