Suwannee girls soccer advances to district title match, 2 Columbia female wrestlers place first
BOYS BASKETBALL
— Columbia 61, Lecanto 58: Marlin Haywood scored 17 points while Justice Kelly and Zavian Douglas added 10 apiece to lead the Tigers (13-9) past the Panthers (17-5) at the Vince Murray Memorial at Vanguard on Saturday. Jalen Gaskins also finished with seven points while Zamarion Jones and Kamarion Bryant each chipped in with six points.
— Fort White 45, Baker County 25: Brandon DeMartini scored 11 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Tafari Moe finished with nine points and seven rebounds to lead the Indians (14-5) past the Wildcats (9-11) on Senior Night on Saturday. Najeeb Smith also added eight points and Jayden Jackson chipped in with six.
— Suwannee 47, Mount Dora 32: The Bulldogs improved to 9-11 with a win over the Hurricanes (1-17) at the Vince Murray Memorial at Vanguard on Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
— Lincoln 67, Columbia 57: Eriel Baker scored 18 points and Zuri Hollie added 16, but the Tigers (11-10) fell to the Trojans (18-3) at home Saturday night.
— Baker County 67, Fort White 22: The Indians fell to 5-12 with Saturday’s home loss to the Wildcats (14-5).
GIRLS SOCCER
— Suwannee 2, Baker County 1: The No. 2 seed Bulldogs (7-10-2) edged the No. 3 seed Wildcats (7-9-1) in the District 2-4A semifinals at Citizens Field on Saturday. SHS advances to face top-seeded Santa Fe — a 7-0 winner over Palatka — in the district championship on Wednesday.
WRESTLING
— Pace Round Robin: Columbia girls wrestlers Bella Guerrier-Lajoir (115 class), Carlee Morrison (155 class) and Josie Raulerson (235 class) all won first place on Saturday.
