All football games in the area for Friday have been postponed in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia.

Fort White head coach Demetric Jackson said Thursday that his team’s game at Jefferson County has been delayed to a future date. According to poweroutage.us, over half of Jefferson County is currently without power as of mid-afternoon Thursday.

Columbia County Schools are closed until Tuesday. Jackson says the Indians will return to practice then to prepare for next week’s game at Keystone Heights.

The Columbia-Union County game was postponed prior to the arrival of Idalia as Union County High was being used as a shelter for the storm. Columbia is expected to return to practice next week ahead of its road trip to DeLand next Friday.

The timetables west of Columbia County could be much longer. Suwannee at Hamilton County, Branford at Duval Charter and Taylor County at Lafayette are all off after Idalia hit Suwannee, Lafayette and Taylor counties pretty hard.

Suwannee head coach Kyler Hall is unsure of when his team will return to practice and doesn’t know yet if the Bulldogs will be able to play next Friday at Chiefland. Branford head coach Tim Clark also said that “everything is up in the air” right now with the Buccaneers scheduled to host Bell next Friday.

According to poweroutage.us, 95% of Suwannee County was without power as of mid-afternoon Thursday.

Lafayette’s return to football is cloudy as well. Nearly 99% of the county was still without power as of mid-afternoon Thursday. The Hornets are currently scheduled to visit Hamilton County next Friday.

95% of Hamilton County was without power as of mid-afternoon Thursday, according to poweroutage.us.
