PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Weekend results for Columbia, Fort White and Suwannee

Columbia competed in the Bobcat Classic at Santa Fe College on Saturday, with the boys placing fifth out of 13 teams.

Nolan Martin (18th at 18:42.60), Joshua Thompson (20th at 18:46.30) and Nathan Matsubara (21st at 18:49.40) led the CHS boys with three top-25 finishes out of 94 runners. Also scoring for the boys were Brandyn Pope (38th at 19:45.80), Timmy Todd (45th at 20:46.00), Jacob McLeod (65th at 22:37.70) and Dylan Aspenwall (69th at 23:00.30).

The boys tallied 138 points behind Buchholz (33), Mandarin (69), St. Francis Catholic (100) and West Port (103).

The girls finished last out of nine teams and were once again led by Kendall Todd, who placed 38th out of 73 runners with a time of 25:32.10. Behind her were teammates Mallory Golden (42nd at 26:05.30), Morgan Golden (43rd at 26:14.10), Laelle Thompson (54th at 27:53.90), Vanessa Todd (57th at 28:49.20), Yulin Chen (59th at 29:53.60) and Melanie Gordon (61st at 30:25.00).

The Buchholz girls won with 28 points ahead of Mandarin, which had 56.

The Fort White girls didn’t have enough runners to score points but two did finish in the top 50. Daelyn Cooper placed 44th in a time of 26:27.60 to lead the Indians, while Raffaellie Carreras came in 46th (26:35.30). Zeta Toundas wasn’t far behind in 52nd at 27:38.40 and Keagan Ayers finished 64th (30:35.90).

HERMANSON LEADS SUWANNEE GIRLS

The Suwannee teams competed at the Florida Horse Park Invitational in Ocala on Saturday, with the girls placing 22nd out of 29 teams and the boys finishing 28th out of 38 teams.

Reigning LCR Runner of the Year Ryleigh Hermanson came in 69th out of 249 runners with a time of 22:08.90 to lead the SHS girls. Scoring behind her were teammates Brianna Woods (136th at 24:24.90), Alondra Castro (154th at 24:56.70), Sadie Siemon (157th at 25:05.80), Arwen Halwey (182nd at 25:55.10), Lydia Gunter (185th at 25:58.50) and Alaira Handy (201st at 26:49.60).

Paul Gunter led the SHS boys in 120th out of 322 runners with a time of 18:12.80, followed by Issac Starling (143rd at 18:41.60), Brig Scott (148th at 18:44.20), Elijah Littleton (237th at 20:29.40), Colton Rogers (260th at 21:26.90), Andres Gomez (272nd at 21:56.50) and Drew Hurst (273rd at 22:04.80).
