Eric Canavan had a double-double with 23 points and 20 rebounds, and Amayoaah Phillips scored 23 more off the bench to lead Florida Gateway College to a 99-69 win over Trinity College at the Howard Center on Friday night.
Jeremy Young added 14 points and Maurice Campbell had 10 for the Timberwolves (7-10), who led 43-35 at halftime before dominating the Tigers in the second half. FGC shot 46% from the floor while playing stellar defense, holding Trinity College to 31% shooting.
Ikareem Lamar led the Tigers with 25 points but was only one of seven players to score in a small rotation. Jaylin Bain and Josh Berrios each added 12 points, while DJ Nunnery also finished in double figures with 10.
FGC has a big week ahead with Region 8 games at Pasco-Hernando State on Wednesday and then Palm State College on Saturday.
