BOYS WEIGHTLIFTING: Suwannee leads regional qualifiers with 23, CHS has 9 moving on

Suwannee leads the area with 23 regional qualifiers after sweeping all 10 Olympic district titles at last week’s district meet and winning seven of the 10 weight classes in traditional.

Competing at the Region 1-1A meet this Friday at SHS in the lower weights will be Chris Gonzalez (both, 119), Randy Garcia (both, 119), William Garcia (both, 129), Mark Garcia, (both, 129), Demontay Brown (both, 139), Gabriel Montoya (traditional, 139), Miguel Lopilato (Olympic, 139), Marquavious Owens (both, 154), Kaderian Ivey (both, 154), Isiah Love (both, 169) and Dylan Stevens (both, 169).

Sam Wainwright (both, 183), Kodi Lang, (traditional, 183), Taylon Jones (Olympic, 183), Will Wainwright (both, 199), Darion Smith (both, 199), Brandon Robinson (both, 219), Andrew Harrell (219, traditional), Davion Ramirez (Olympic, 219), Alex Mabey (both, 238), Justice Leggett (both, 238), Miguel Perez (both, unlimited) and William Brown (both, unlimited) have all moved on for Suwannee in the upper weights.

Nine Columbia lifters are moving on to this Saturday’s Region 1-2A meet at Suwannee after their performances at districts last week. Joining district champion Au’vontae Smith (238 class) at regionals via at-large berths will be Vincent Muraco (119), Landon Oglesby (129), Jalin Carter (169), Tyson Yaxley (183), Tony Fulton (199), Javon Bradley (238) and Henry Camiel(unlimited) in the traditional event. Zaher Darwiche (199) and Fulton will also compete at regionals in the Olympic.

Branford has nine lifters moving on to the Region 1-1A meet, including Zander Hegenauer (traditional, 119), Luke White (both, 119), Brandon Guiffreda (both, 139), Dante Rodriguez (both, 139), Tolby Terry (both, 154), Ian Cooper (both, 169), Brice Criggall (both, 169), Landan Boyette (both, 219) and John Coker (both, unlimited).

Eight lifters advanced to the Region 1-1A for Fort White, including Hayden McCroy (both, 169), Tristen Johnson (Olympic, 199), Bryson Major (Olympic, 199), Andrew Major (Olympic, 219), Trey Tyre (Olympic, 219), Adam Ford (Olympic, 238), James DiMauro (both, unlimited) and Robert McIntyre (both, unlimited).
