MAYO – A suspect is in custody after three people were found dead inside a Lafayette County home Thursday morning while another person suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a residence on SW Willow Street in Mayo following a 911 call at 9:31 a.m. Thursday. There, deputies found a man suffering from substantial life-threatening injuries.

Deputies responded at the same time to the Lafayette County Jail where there was a male suspect with a weapon, the LCSO release states. The man was detained “due to exigent circumstances and preservation of evidence.”

According to LCSO, further investigation uncovered a second location involved in the incident where two women and a man were found dead inside a home.

The suspect remains in custody and authorities don't believe there is a continued threat to the community, the LCSO release states.

The investigation, which also involves the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is ongoing.

The LCSO is not releasing names at this time.

Sheriff Brian Lamb said Thursday evening he was not releasing any information beyond what was in the release.
