LIVE OAK — An investigation into a suspicious death in Live Oak on Saturday continues by multiple agencies.

According to a Live Oak Police Department release Tuesday, investigators are still investigating the death of 30-year-old Blake Reaves in an apartment at the Dalton Apartment Complex on SW 2nd Street on Saturday afternoon. LOPD is working the the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the State Attorney’s Office from the Third Circuit and the Medical Examiner’s Office on the case.

According to the LOPD, details about the case are not being released “for the purpose of investigative integrity and a successful outcome in the pursuit of justice.”

Capt. Jason Rountree said he couldn’t comment on how Reaves died.

According to the release, LOPD officers were dispatched to the apartments around 3:11 p.m. Saturday due to an unattended toddler at the complex. When the officers arrived, they not only found the child but were then directed to the apartment where the child lived.

The release states the door to the apartment was open and Reaves was lying on the floor, suffering from “severe injuries” and unresponsive.

Despite paramedics from Suwannee County Fire Rescue responding and providing aid, the release states the woman died at the apartment.

From what investigators observed at the apartment, the release states they determined foul play was present.

According to the release, the toddler did not appear to be injured and is safely with direct family members.
