High school wrapup: Columbia baseball drops fifth straight, Fort White baseball loses to Hilliard

Columbia lost its fifth straight game Friday night, falling to Trinity Christian 12-4 on the road.

The Tigers (10-11) led 4-2 entering the sixth inning but nine walks and two errors allowed the Conquerors (19-4) to score nine runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh.

It was the second time this season Columbia lost to Trinity Christian, which is ranked seventh overall in PrepZone.com’s state baseball poll and first in Class 4A. The Conquerors won 3-2 in extra innings on Feb. 15.

Columbia will try to bounce back on the road against Suwannee Tuesday night.

Fort White baseball

Fort White (6-14, 3-9), lost its district finale 14-4 to Hilliard (4-15, 4-8) on the road Friday night.

Th loss officially places Fort White as the No. 6 seed in the district tournament next week.

The Indians host Keystone Heights Monday night before finishing the regular season against Trenton at home Thursday night.
