Charles Dickens’ Ebenezeer Scrooge and Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch both might have their hearts warmed if they hopped in their vehicles and drove by some residences in Columbia County.
It is the season to be jolly, and some people decorate their homes with lights to celebrate Christmas. Some of the spirit of hope, peace, mercy, charity and love courses through people’s hearts a bit more at this time of year.
Reflecting the happiness of the season, and capturing some of the magical feelings of youthful joy at Christmas, decorated houses have long attracted onlookers.
Beautiful lights are on display throughout Columbia County this Christmas and everyone is invited to see houses that are illuminated.
Olustee Park on Duval Street (U.S. Highway 90) and Marion Avenue (U.S. Highway 441) is one well-lit stop for viewers. The city has decked the park with lights and decorations second to no other municipality of this size.
Volunteers augmented the city workers’ efforts as everyone joined forces to put together this year’s Olustee Park decorations under the direction of Downtown Action Corp.
Marion Avenue itself through the downtown historic area includes lights and decorations, too.
