Columbia girl’s soccer dominates Oak Hall

The Columbia High Lady Tigers soccer team defeated the Oak Hall Lady Eagles on Wednesday, 7-0.

The Lady Tigers didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard, and Columbia built a 5-0 lead by halftime.

Michaela Burton scored the first goal of the game with the assist coming from Shanniece Griffin.

Shelby Widergren put her first goal through on a free kick to put the Lady Tigers up 2-0.


The Lady Tigers got a second goal from Burton to go up 3-0.

Chelsey Waters added the assist on Burton’s

second goal.

Widergren added a

second goal with just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half.

Columbia closed out the first half with Burton’s final goal of the game, which was unassisted.

The Lady Tigers opened the second half without many of its starters in the game, but continued to build on their lead.

Lauren Townsend put the Columbia up 6-0, and the Lady Tigers final goal came from Griffin at 7:35 remaining in the game with an assist from Heather Rountree.

The Lady Tigers are 7-8 following the victory with a 4-5 district mark.

Fort White soccer

The Fort White Indians fell to P.K. Yonge on Monday, 8-1.

With the loss the Indians are now 1-8 (0-3, district) and host Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday.
