Columbia defeats Suwannee

Columbia High’s girls weightlifting team powered past Suwannee High, 71-10, in a meet Thursday in Live Oak. It was the opening meet for CHS.
The Lady Tigers won the bookend 110-pound and unlimited weight classes and placed first and second in all other classes.
Katie Shaffer won at 110 pounds with an 80-pound bench press and 105-pound clean and jerk for a 185 total.
Hannah Nash was the unlimited winner with 110-115-225.
Placing 1-2 in the other weight classes were:
n 119 — Jennifer Kondrach, 135-125-260; Ashley Shaw, 100-115-215;
n 129 — Tara Stephens, 135-150-285; Ashlei Albury, 115-110-225;

Columbia’s scheduled meet today at Fort White High was canceled.
Lady Indians soccer
The Fort White Lady Indians soccer team defeated the Bronson High Eagles 2-0 on Monday.
The Lady Indians improved to 7-7-2 (3-1-1, district) on the season.
Rebecca Onorati scored on a penalty kick to put the Lady Indians, and Casey Dubose added a header from Onorati to put Fort White up 2-0 in the win.
“We looked like world beaters out there tonight, but couldn’t finish in the open field,” coach Perry Sauls commented.
Fort White will play its last match before the Christmas break in Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
