An 18-year-old Ohio man was arrested Monday morning after Lake City Police Department found him in a stolen car while traveling with a 15-year-old runaway.
Wayne Dale Dobson, of 219 Center St., Findlay, Ohio, has been charged with grand theft and was being held at the Columbia County Jail. He also faces charges from an active warrant from Hancock County, Ohio.
According to reports, at 8:26 a.m. Monday Lake City Police Department officers were called to the Wal-mart parking lot in reference to a stolen vehicle. The first officer on the scene spoke to a member of the store’s security force, who told him the car was stolen according to a Be On the Look Out bulletin.
The officer later reported seeing a man and woman walking toward the vehicle and when he asked for their identification Dobson told the officer his friend let him use the car to drive to Florida. He also learned the girl was a teenage run away. The girl was later taken to Inter Face after her parents were contacted, reports say.
