CHS, Fort White bowl today against Bulldogs

Lady Tigers earn second seed for volleyball district.

Columbia High’s bowling team has its weekly

matchup today against Fort White High and Suwannee High.

Today’s games are

4 p.m. at Live Oak Bowling Center.


The Lady Tigers bowled two games last week. Leading the way in game one were Alyssa Phillips, 111, Niki Bright, 109, Janine Lopez, 108, Michelle Carroll, 107, and Tiana Wright, 100.

Columbia picked it up in game two with both Krystal Lambert and Phillips bowling 127. Holly Crumpton and Carroll each rolled a 126. Tara Trespalacios bowled a 115.

Columbia volleyball

Columbia’s volleyball team wrapped up the District 4-5A season and the No. 3 seed in the district tournament with a

25-13, 25-14, 25-12 win at Lake Weir High on Saturday.

Symone Carter led with 18 service points, 10 aces and 19 assists. She added four kills and a block.

Arden Sibbernsen served 14 points, with six aces, and had one dig. Taylor Messer led in kills with seven. Beth Williams had seven service points (three aces), six kills and two digs.

Columbia (11-4, 8-4) hosts Fort White for Senior Night at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The junior varsity teams play at 5:30 p.m.

Columbia’s JV beat host Vanguard High 25-22, 25-13 on Oct. 14.

In the two games, DaBrea Hill had 13 kills, three aces and a dig. Shatyra Reed had three service points (two aces), 10 assists, three kills and three digs.

Taylor Owens had four service points (two aces), three digs and a kill in game one. Lauren Jones had two kills and one assist.

Jessica Milton had 11 service points (two aces) and three assists in game two. Elleesha Simmons had three service points with two aces.

The Lady Tigers arrived late at Leesburg High on Oct. 9 and only played one game, which they won

22-20.

Caitlin DuCoeur had three aces, one kill and one dig. Shaniqua Henry had two service points (one ace) and three kills. Becca Mosley had to digs.

Reed had two service points (one ace), two kills and a dig. Milton had two digs, one kill and one

service point.

Columbia cross country

Columbia’s girls cross country team placed sixth in the Bay High School Invitational in Panama City on Saturday.

Three of the top five Lady Tigers had to stay home and take the PSAT for extra credit. Junior varsity

runners filled in.

Columbia’s results and times were: Morgan Murphy, 12th-personal best 23:00; Meghan Collins, 19th-23:49; Amy Nydam, 36th-26:13; Kelli York, 59th-28:20; Alexandra Tierney, 60th-29:30; and Alix Williams, 61st-30:15.

Columbia’s boys placed 10th out of 23 teams in a 5,000 meter run at the Little Everglades Pre-State Cross Country Invitational in Dade City on Saturday.

Tigers results and times were: Brandon Scott, 20th-17:19; Dillon Snook, 45th-17:53; Max Murphy, 47th-17:56; Jason Harrison, 48th-17:58; Michael Craft, 84th-18:48; Marcus Vallejo, 100th-19:16; and Casey Crane, 116th-19:37.

Columbia will run in a meet at Alligator Park at

5 p.m. on Thursday.

Fort White volleyball

The Fort White Lady Indians volleyball team defeated Hamilton County High 25-7, 25-15, and 25-9 on Monday.

On “Senior Night” it was the seniors that stood out for the Lady Indians.

Charlette Demko led the team with 8 service points, 2 aces, and ten kills.

Kristal Butler played well leading the team with eleven kills, and also contributed 2 service points.

Jessica Robison had 9 service points, 7 aces, and 4 kills in the match.

Whitney Pellerito had 6 service points and 1 kill.

Coach Wohlstein had these comments of the seniors, “It’s the fourth year I’ve had with these girls, and it’s a great senior class. I will miss all of them. After we go to Columbia on Thursday, we’ll host districts, and look to make it to the playoffs.”
