A Live Oak woman was taken to a Gainesville hospital by helicopter after being involved in a three-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon.
Kelie Jean Branham, 40, of Live Oak was hospitalized following the accident, but authorities say her injuries are not life-threatening.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 90 west at Stone Gate Terrace.
According to Lake City Police Department reports, a 2003 Toyota pickup truck driven by Clinton Wayne Phillips, 35, of Lake City, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 90 and slowed and stopped. While Phillips was stopped in the roadway, a 1997 Ford Explorer, driven by Branham, was slowing and preparing to stop when her SUV was rear-ended by a Mercury four-door driven by Phillip Allen Holderman, 37, of Lake City.
Reports say when Holderman’s car ran into the back of Branham’s SUV, it pushed the SUV into the pickup truck.
The Columbia County Fire Department responded to the crash scene with three units: a quick response unit, a tanker and an administrative official to oversee the rescue effort.
Traffic on the roadway’s westbound lanes came to a crawl as a result of the wreck until vehicles were rerouted through the Busch Urology doctor’s office parking lot. Traffic was rerouted through the parking lot for nearly an hour.
No additional details about the accident or Branham’s condition were available at press time.
